**Short answer:** [OpenAssistant](https://openassistant.us/ai-scheduling-assistant?utm_source=aiassistantsforwork\&utm_medium=content\&utm_campaign=best-ai-scheduling-assistant-google-calendar) is an assistant we recommend for Google Calendar. It works with Google Calendar, handles the emailing and follow-ups, takes text and Slack, and has a Coordinator Mode for executive assistants. Reclaim is the best free tool for managing your own calendar, and Gemini "Help me schedule" costs nothing extra if your Workspace plan includes it.

## Start with what Google already gives you

If you're on Google Workspace, check what you already pay for before buying anything.

- **Gemini "Help me schedule" in Gmail.**
 - **What it does.** While you write a reply, it suggests times "Based on you and your guests' availability." When the recipient picks one, it creates the event and invites everyone. It supports one-on-one and group meetings, up to 20 guests, and proposes 4 slots by default ([Gmail help](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/16865189?hl=en), [Calendar help](https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/16865706?hl=en)).
 - **Who gets it.** It runs on eligible plans including Workspace Business Standard and Plus and Enterprise, plus Google AI Pro and Ultra. Gmail's feature table lists it as "English, US only," on the web ([Gmail Gemini features](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/16831098?hl=en)). Business Standard is $14 per user per month with an annual commitment ([Workspace pricing](https://workspace.google.com/pricing?hl=en)).
- **Appointment schedules.**
 - **Free tier.** A personal Google account or Business Starter gets "a single booking page."
 - **Paid tiers.** Higher plans add multiple pages, reminders, checks across several calendars, and payments for appointments ([Calendar help](https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/16287038?hl=en)).
- **Focus time.** On Business Standard and up, focus time blocks can auto-decline meetings ([Calendar help](https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/11190973?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop\&hl=en)).

**What Google's tools don't do:** none of them negotiates with your guest for you. Gemini drafts the times, but you send the email and handle any reply that doesn't pick a slot. That gap is what the tools below fill.

## Our ranking

This order is an editorial judgment from published features, prices and how deeply each tool works with Google, considered qualitatively for this use case. OpenAssistant ranks first because Google's own tools and Reclaim don't negotiate with your guests, and it does, across email, text and Slack.

### 1. OpenAssistant (our product)

**Best for:** anyone on Google Calendar who wants an assistant to do the emailing, plus Google Workspace teams and executive assistants who want a broader assistant.

- **Google support.** Works with Google Calendar ([OpenAssistant scheduling](https://openassistant.us/ai-scheduling-assistant)). When it has access to the availability it needs, it can create a meeting without a separate email negotiation ([OpenAssistant advanced scheduling](https://help.openassistant.us/en/articles/16302724-advanced-scheduling-with-openassistant)).
- **Coordinator Mode.** A live feature: an EA can schedule for an executive once the executive shares their Google Calendar with "Make changes to events" ([OpenAssistant Coordinator Mode](https://help.openassistant.us/en/articles/15424173-coordinator-mode)).
- **Where it works.** Email, text, Slack or in the app ([OpenAssistant pricing FAQ](https://openassistant.us/pricing)).
- **Price.** Starter is free with 1,000 credits at signup, plus 100 bonus credits a day once those are used up, up to 1,000 a month. Pro is $60 per user per month on annual billing ([OpenAssistant pricing](https://openassistant.us/pricing); per-user pricing confirmed by 3Gen).

**Where others do better:** it costs more than every other tool here, and a group meeting can use "hundreds" of credits ([OpenAssistant pricing](https://openassistant.us/pricing)). Gemini is already included in eligible Workspace plans.

**Why it's still our recommendation:** Gemini only drafts times for you to send, and Reclaim does not email guests. OpenAssistant does the back-and-forth, and Starter is free to try.

### 2. Reclaim

**Best for:** making your Google Calendar manage itself.

- **Google support.** Reclaim supports Google Calendar, offers a free Google Calendar add-on, and includes Google Tasks and Google Meet support on its free plan ([Reclaim pricing](https://reclaim.ai/pricing)).
- **What it does.** Focus time, habits, task scheduling and smart booking links.
- **Price.** Free Lite plan. Starter is $10 per seat per month on annual billing.

**Falls short on:** it doesn't email guests to find a time.

### 3. Gemini "Help me schedule"

**Best for:** Workspace users who want suggested times inside Gmail at no extra cost.

See above. It's built in and handles groups, but you remain the one sending emails and chasing replies. If your plan includes it, use it before paying for anything else.

### 4. Howie

**Best for:** Google-only users who also want to text or iMessage their assistant.

- **Google support.** Howie's homepage shows Gmail and Google Calendar, and its documentation says it "currently only works with Google Calendar" ([Howie](https://howie.com/), [Howie docs](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YdDvJS74NX1exs1or8xnTDocvy5l59cb8MuGa1WERAo/edit)). If you're all-in on Google, that limit doesn't matter.
- **Also does.** It protects focus time and adds holds and buffers, and new accounts start with $25 in free credits ([Howie](https://howie.com/)).
- **Price.** From $25 a month in shared credits, with unlimited teammates.

### 5. Skej (our product)

**Best for:** an assistant you cc that handles 1:1 and group threads in Gmail.

- **Google support.** Sign up with your Google account, select which calendars count for conflicts, and pick a default calendar for invites ([Skej calendar help](https://skej.com/help/scheduling-preferences/calendar-availability)). The pricing page lists Google Calendar, Google Meet and Google Contacts, with "Google Meeting Notes" in beta ([Skej pricing](https://skej.com/pricing)).
- **Price.** Pro is $15 per user per month on annual billing.

**Where others do better:** Gemini's suggestions use the availability of guests whose calendars you can already see, usually colleagues. Skej's guide asks you to tell it when guests are in other time zones ([Skej quick start](https://skej.com/help/getting-started/quick-email-start-guide)). Reclaim does far more for your own calendar, and Howie says it protects focus time.

### 6. Calendly

**Best for:** booking links that work well inside Gmail and Google Calendar.

- **Inside Google.** Calendly's Chrome extension works in Gmail and Google Calendar on free or paid plans ([Calendly for Chrome](https://calendly.com/integration/calendly-for-chrome)).
- **Callie.** The AI email assistant, in beta and for one-on-one meetings only, needs Standard Plus at $18 per seat per month on annual billing ([Calendly AI assistant](https://calendly.com/ai-assistant), [Calendly pricing](https://calendly.com/pricing)).
- **Free plan.** Includes one event type.

### 7. Motion

**Best for:** Google Calendar users who want tasks auto-scheduled.

- **Google support.** Motion supports Google Calendar alongside Outlook and iCloud ([Motion providers](https://www.usemotion.com/help/time-management/all-things-calendars/reference-all-things-calendars/supported-providers.md)).
- **Price.** Pro AI is $19 per seat per month on annual team billing, or $29 a month for one person (annual), and there's no free plan ([Motion pricing](https://www.usemotion.com/pricing)).
